EU Extends Russia Sanctions for 6 Months

The EU Council decided to extend sanctions against Russia for six months, until September 15, 2026, due to the ongoing military aggression against Ukraine. The sanctions affect approximately 2,600 individuals and entities, including travel restrictions and asset freezes. At the same time, the Council decided not to renew sanctions on two individuals, including a Dutch businessman, due to legal doubts. The EU reaffirmed its support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and pledged to continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine.
