Fake News Regarding Shahed Drone Debris in Cyprus

A video circulating on social media claims that a Russian anti-jamming receiver, “Kometa-M”, was found in the wreckage of an Iranian Shahed 136 drone allegedly targeting the British RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus. The presence of this system, used in Russian drones and missiles in Ukraine, has been interpreted by some as evidence of “reverse technology transfer” between Moscow and Tehran. However, the platform where the video was posted has debunked its authenticity, stating that the footage originates from Ukraine in 2024 and is unrelated to any recent incident in Cyprus. Furthermore, the cracks and markings on the component match those in a previous video, suggesting the material was recycled and presented as new and Cyprus-related. This incident raises serious questions about the reliability of information circulating on social media.
