Farmers Protest in Northern Cyprus: Eggs Thrown at 'Agriculture Ministry'

Farmers in Northern Cyprus staged a forceful protest against the challenges facing their industry, throwing eggs and dumping milk and manure at the 'Ministry of Agriculture'. The protesters demanded the resignation of the 'government', accusing it of hostility towards local production and increasing input costs. The president of the farmers' association, Adil Onalt, labeled the 'Minister of Agriculture' as the number one enemy of livestock farming and urged the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, not to support a government that destroys production. Simultaneously, the price of barley has increased by 41.40% while lamb prices have decreased, creating difficult conditions for producers. The protest was supported by the KTOEÖS president and other trade union leaders.
