First Flu-Related Death Recorded in Cyprus Amid Rising Cases

The first death related to the flu has been recorded in Cyprus, coinciding with an increase in cases and hospital admissions. The individual who died belonged to a vulnerable population group. OKYpY spokesperson Charalambos Charilaou stated that winter virus activity has increased, but hospital occupancy remains at manageable levels (85%-90%). There is a smaller number of admissions due to Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) compared to last year, and the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is low. Further increases in cases and admissions are expected after the holiday period.
