Foot-and-Mouth Disease: 9 More Cases, in Livadia and Dromolaxia - Police Investigation into Illegal Farm

The situation with foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus is worsening, with 9 new cases recorded in Livadia and Dromolaxia, bringing the total number of infected livestock units to 32. Over 7,000 animals have already been culled. The Veterinary Services are preparing a plan to address the crisis, which will be submitted to the European Commission, with the aim of finding alternatives to mass culling. Meanwhile, an illegal livestock farm has been identified in the Livadia area, where cattle tested positive for the virus, and a police investigation has been launched. Vaccinations are continuing in the initially infected zone and are being extended to within a 10-kilometer radius of the new case in Dromolaxia.
