Foot and Mouth Disease Alert in Greece Following Outbreaks in Turkey and Cyprus

Following the confirmation of widespread cases of foot and mouth disease in Turkey and its recent appearance in the occupied territories of Cyprus, the Primary Sector Directorates of the Dodecanese and Cyclades islands are on high alert. Announcements have been issued to the public, especially livestock farmers, regarding the seriousness of the disease and the need for strict adherence to biosecurity measures. No cases have been detected in Greece so far. Foot and mouth disease does not transmit to humans, but can be carried by them.
