Foot-and-Mouth Disease: All Animals Culled in Positive Units in Livadia

In Cyprus, authorities have culled all animals in units found positive for foot-and-mouth disease, both in Livadia and Nicosia, as a measure to limit the spread of the disease. No new cases have been recorded so far. Tensions arose at a livestock farm in Livadia when the owners refused to comply with the instructions of the Veterinary Services to cull the animals, as culls had already been carried out due to the same disease. The owners' refusal caused a minor disturbance, but the culling was eventually carried out.
