France: 10 Sentenced for Offensive Online Comments About Brigitte Macron's Gender

Ten individuals in France have been sentenced to up to eight months of suspended imprisonment for their involvement in an online harassment campaign targeting First Lady Brigitte Macron. The defendants, eight men and two women aged 41 to 60, were charged with online abuse and threats. The comments focused on Macron's gender and sexuality, with some equating her age difference with her husband, President Emmanuel Macron, to “pedophilia”. The case stemmed from false theories circulating online about Brigitte Macron's gender, which have negatively impacted her and her family’s quality of life.
