Ο Γάλλος πρόεδρος Εμανουέλ Μακρόν ανακοίνωσε σήμερα ότι το αεροπλανοφόρο νέας γενιάς, το οποίο θα αντικαταστήσει το Σαρλ ντε Γκωλ το 2038, θα ονομαστεί «France Libre» (Ελεύθερη Γαλλία), προς τιμήν του «γαλλικού πνεύματος» της «αντίστασης» που ενσάρκωσε ο Γάλλος στρατηγός.
«Ήθελα να εντάξω το μελλοντικό μας αεροπλανοφόρο στην κληρονομιά του στρατηγού ντε Γκωλ. Η ζωή του, το πεπρωμένο του. Οι επιλογές που έγιναν ήδη από τον Ιούνιο του 1940, μετά την ήττα, εκφράζουν μια συγκεκριμένη ιδέα για τη Γαλλία», δήλωσε ο Μακρόν μιλώντας στο εργοτάξιο των πυρηνικών αντιδραστήρων για τη μελλοντική ναυαρχίδα του Γαλλικού Ναυτικού στην Ιντρ, κοντά στη Νάντη.
«Για εκείνον, για εμάς, το γαλλικό πνεύμα είναι ένα πνεύμα αντίστασης. Είναι μια θέληση που τίποτα δεν μπορεί να σταματήσει. Μια θέληση για αντίσταση για να παραμείνουμε ελεύθεροι. Μια αμετάβλητη, άτρωτη θέληση», πρόσθεσε.
