German Property Seizure Case: Decision on Additional Witnesses on January 14th

The trial of German real estate agent Eva Isabella Kiunzel, accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, continued at the Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia. The Prosecution requested the addition of further witnesses, including a police officer who handled documents sent to the German authorities, in order to present all substantial evidence. The defense objected, arguing that adding witnesses without full disclosure of their testimony violates the principle of equality of arms and the right to a fair trial, as well as Article 16 of the Constitution. Furthermore, the defense lawyer alleged that the investigation continued for a long period after the defendant's arrest, suggesting that the addition of witnesses is being used to cover up gaps in the case. The Court reserved its decision on the addition of witnesses for January 14th.
