Good Morning Cyprus: When Giorgos Papadakis 'Launched' ANT1 in Cyprus (video)

Giorgos Papadakis, one of the most well-known journalists in Greece, passed away on Sunday, June 4th. He was synonymous with ANT1's "Kalimera Ellada" show, which he presented for 34 years. Although ANT1 Cyprus broadcast his show for only a few years, there's a special connection between Papadakis and the Cypriot station. Specifically, he and Roula Koromila were the ones who said the first "Good Morning" in Cyprus on the day ANT1 Cyprus launched on June 28, 1993, with a special show titled "Kalimera Kypros". The show featured Cypriot talents, students studying in Athens, and traditional dances, while Souli Sambah sang the famous song "Oulla halalin tou". Lucas Furlas also made his first television appearance on the show.
