Government: No New Threat to British Bases or Republic of Cyprus After Yesterday's Drone Interceptions

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis emphasized the importance of transmitting accurate information, especially during times of crisis, urging the public to be informed by verified sources and official channels. He stressed that Cyprus is not involved in any military operation, but maintains its humanitarian role. Mr. Letymbiotis announced Greece's immediate response to provide assistance, with the dispatch of four F-16s and two frigates to Cyprus. He pointed out that a meeting of the National Security Council was held under the presidency of the President, to assess security measures and monitor regional developments. A Press Center is operating at the Presidential Palace, open to the media from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., to provide continuous and immediate information. The government seeks to ensure the accuracy of the information circulating. When asked about the possibility of reviving the unified defense doctrine with Greece, the Spokesman stated that Greece's assistance strengthens the preventive measures taken by Cyprus, but there was no discussion about reviving the doctrine.
