The Cypriot government has categorically rejected any suggestion of illegal or improper activity involving its members, responding to questions regarding a video circulating on social media. The video raises concerns about access to the government, funding, and investments. Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, emphasized that the government operates in a institutional and transparent manner when attracting investments and does not believe the video will affect Cyprus's image abroad. She referred to statements by the Government Spokesperson for further information. Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianou, agreed that the video should not affect investment efforts, given the transparency from the beginning, as demonstrated by the President's recent trip to the US, which was fully informed before, during and after its completion. Ms. Piki stated that the government categorically rejects any suggestion of illegal activity and that the honor and reputation of the country are of utmost importance. The government believes that the transparency it has shown in its investment contacts is sufficient to refute the claims made in the video. Minister Damianou added that the contacts in the US resulted in attracting large firms that would not be interested in such practices, and therefore, efforts to strengthen Cyprus's investment ecosystem are not expected to be affected.
