Government Shaken by Leaked Video – Claims 'Malicious Editing'

The Cypriot government is in a state of anxiety following the leak of a video on the platform X, which suggests suspicious funding of President Christodoulides' election campaign and the involvement of the First Lady, Filippa Karsera-Christodoulidou. The video, lasting 8.5 minutes, presents alleged mechanisms to circumvent funding limits, donations through charitable organizations, and access to businessmen and oligarchs. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis characterized the video as a product of malicious editing and false claims, attempting to protect the government's image. However, there was no immediate denial of the allegations of campaign contributions and donations, which has caused turmoil in the Presidential Palace. The case comes at a sensitive time, just days after Cyprus assumed the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
