Grandson's Struggle to Reclaim Grandmother's Home in Cyprus

A 45-year-old teacher and writer from Paphos is battling bureaucracy to reclaim his grandmother's former home in Agia Varvara, which originally belonged to Turkish Cypriots. The house has remained vacant since 2007, and despite the man's interest, the transfer process has been significantly delayed due to red tape and a lack of response from relevant authorities. His cousin, to whom the property was initially transferred, has stated he is no longer interested, but the 'Merimna' service refused the transfer. The man has repeatedly contacted various services and officials, including the Minister of Interior and the President of the Parliament, without receiving substantial assistance. Despite not seeking preferential treatment, but simply transparency and adherence to legal procedures, the case remains at a standstill, with him continuing to pay rent for an apartment.
