Greece: Handcuffs to 44-year-old - He stole patients inside a hospital room

A 44-year-old man was arrested at AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki, accused of stealing from patients inside a hospital room. The man entered the room and removed wallets containing money and a mobile phone from two hospitalized women. The theft was noticed by a hospital security guard, who notified the Immediate Action. The 44-year-old was arrested and the stolen items were returned to their owners. The defendant was referred to the same day to be tried in court and was sentenced to 10 months in prison. Due to a previous conviction for another theft, the sentence was not suspended, nor was it converted, but its execution was decided. "I didn't understand how I got into the room," he said in his apology, while stating that he was at the hospital because he was feeling pain in his leg.
