Greek Frigate 'Kimonas' Arrives in Limassol

The Greek frigate 'Kimonas' has arrived at the port of Limassol, while the frigate 'Psara' has been on the island since morning, as part of providing protection against Iranian drones. The 'Psara', equipped with the 'Kentavros' anti-UAV system, had arrived earlier for refueling, while the 'Kimonas' docked in the afternoon for the same purpose. The 'Kimonas' frigate is the most modern anti-aircraft platform in the Greek fleet, featuring 32 vertical launch cells for Aster 30 missiles, capable of long-range area air defense. It is also equipped with the Sea Fire radar and an advanced combat system. This configuration allows the 'Kimonas' to operate as a hub for anti-aircraft coverage, not only for the ship itself but also for the wider operational area. It features vertical launchers for anti-aircraft missiles, AESA radar, SETIS combat system, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons, as well as a 76mm gun. The arrival of the Greek frigates in Cyprus is part of efforts to strengthen air defense in the Eastern Mediterranean.
