Hundreds of Vehicle Checks, Raids on Premises, and Seven Arrests Overnight

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive preventative operations overnight, focusing on the prevention of criminal activities and the protection of citizens. The operations included checks on vehicles and premises, as well as targeted raids on key points in urban areas. During the checks, a total of seven individuals were arrested for a variety of offenses. These include possession of illegal drugs, burglary, domestic violence, driving under the influence of alcohol (two arrests), illegal residence in Cyprus, and failure to comply with police instructions. More than 600 vehicles were checked, and over 750 occupants were inspected. In addition, 34 premises were inspected, resulting in four reports of violations regarding their operating licenses. Traffic checks resulted in 211 reports, with the most common offenses relating to speeding (87) and driving under the influence of alcohol (25). Four drivers tested positive for drugs, while a total of 438 alcohol tests were conducted. Eight vehicles were impounded as part of the investigation of traffic offenses. These operations are part of a broader and continuously strengthened preventative plan by the Police, aiming to enhance the sense of security of citizens in all provinces.
