Imaging Centers Regulation: Concerns over Oligopolies and Patient Safety

The Parliamentary Committee on Health has begun a clause-by-clause discussion of the bill regarding imaging centers, focusing on the need for scientific validation, control, and regulation of their operation. MPs have called for order in the sector, while others have expressed reservations about certain provisions of the bill. The proposal to eliminate a provision in the law concerning the establishment of the Cyprus Oncology Center, regarding the approval of the House of Representatives for the disposal of assets, was also discussed. Simultaneously, the discussion on the law concerning the establishment and operation of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Units was completed. The Committee Chairman described the bill for imaging centers as very important, emphasizing the need for patient safety and control of the units. The MP from AKEL expressed serious reservations about specific points, underlining that the health of citizens must be a priority.
