“Imports” of Nurses Are Not a Solution – PASYNO Criticizes Government Plan

PASYNO is strongly reacting to the government bill on the introduction of nurses from third countries, calling it a “backdoor” that could negatively affect the sector and the quality of health services. PASYNO argues that importing nurses from other countries is not a solution to staffing shortages, but could create problems in communication with patients and discourage Cypriot youth from choosing nursing. It points out that there is already a positive trend in the enrollment of Cypriot students in nursing schools, with a 75% increase after a campaign by OKYPY. PASYNO calls on the government to reconsider the bill and focus on strengthening the domestic workforce.
