Increased Police Presence and Collaboration Following Crime Spree in Larnaca

Following recent criminal incidents in Larnaca, the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, met with Mayor Andreas Vyras and the leadership of the local Police. The Minister emphasized the need for cooperation between the state, municipalities, and civil society to address the rise in organized crime, while announcing an increase in police presence and patrols in critical areas. Mayor Vyras expressed concern for the safety of citizens and the damage such incidents cause to the city's progress, stressing that combating crime is the responsibility of the state. He also pledged the municipality's support through information and joint campaigns. The Police Director of Larnaca, Ioannis Kapnoulas, stated that officers volunteered to work overtime to support the Police's work, while investigations into the recent incident are ongoing.
