Internet Access Returns to Iran After 11 Days

Internet access in Iran will return “gradually” this week, after 11 days of a nationwide blackout imposed amid massive anti-government protests. The announcement was made by Iran's Vice President for Science and Technology, Hossein Afshin. The blackout was aimed at suppressing the protests and restricting citizens' access to information and communication. During the outage, internet access was almost non-existent, impacting the economy, education, and the daily lives of Iranians. On Sunday, limited access to some foreign websites, such as Google, was briefly restored, but full restoration is expected gradually throughout the week.
