Ioannidis: Aim for a General Approach to Protecting Vulnerable Adults in the EU

The Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nikolas Ioannidis, stated that the Cypriot Presidency is working towards a general approach within the European Union regarding the protection of vulnerable adults, given the increasing mobility and aging population. This issue is on the agenda of the Justice and Home Affairs Council taking place in Brussels. Furthermore, Ministers are expected to discuss the implementation of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the independence of lawyers, and the fight against impunity for crimes in Ukraine. The Council will also consider the Regulation on the protection of adults unable to protect their interests in cross-border cases. During a working lunch, discussions will focus on tackling members of criminal organizations who continue their activities even from prison.
