Iran Protests: At Least 45 Dead, Including Eight Minors

At least 45 protesters, including eight minors, have been killed in Iran since the start of demonstrations in late December, according to the non-governmental organization Iran Human Rights (IHR). The organization reports that hundreds of people have been injured and over 2,000 have been arrested. The director of IHR, Mahmoud Amiri-Moghadam, stated that the suppression of the protests is becoming increasingly violent. Yesterday was the deadliest day, with 13 protesters killed. Iranian media and authorities, on the other hand, report at least 21 deaths, including members of the security forces. However, the count by the French News Agency (AFP) shows a difference in the numbers. The protests in Iran continue for the 12th day, with growing concern about the escalation of violence and the suppression of protesters by the authorities.
