Iran: Security Forces Shoot at Protesters - Verified Videos Emerge

Protests in Iran, fueled by the economic crisis, are escalating, with reports of security forces using live ammunition against protesters in at least three cities. New videos verified by the BBC show police shooting towards crowds in the cities of Fasa, Kuhdasht, and Lordegan. In the Fasa video, two police officers are seen firing seven times towards protesters. In Kuhdasht, a group of police officers was recorded repeatedly shooting. In Lordegan, explosions were heard and a man shouted “They are shooting” while near protesters outside a government building. At the same time, the BBC identified images that have been processed with artificial intelligence and are circulating online, with the aim of spreading misinformation. One of these, posted by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proved to have been created with AI. The situation in Iran remains tense, with fears of further escalation of violence and suppression of protests. The use of live ammunition against civilians raises serious concerns about the protection of human rights.
