Iranian Official: Mojtaba Khamenei Rejected De-escalation Proposals

According to a senior Iranian official, Mojtaba Khamenei, the new supreme leader of Iran, rejected proposals for de-escalation or a ceasefire with the United States. These proposals were conveyed to Tehran through two mediating countries. Khamenei's stance on retaliation against Israel and the United States was described as "very harsh and serious." The official stated that the supreme leader believes that "the right time for peace" will only come when the United States and Israel "kneel, accept defeat and pay compensation." This position indicates a hardline stance towards the United States and Israel and excludes any possibility of negotiations in the near future. The information comes after reports that the Trump administration rejected attempts by Middle Eastern allies to start negotiations to end the war. Khamenei's refusal to consider proposals for de-escalation further complicates the situation in the region and increases the risk of conflict escalation.
