Iranian Resident in Akrotiri Shares Experience After Drone Downing: "We Heard an Explosion and Sirens, We Had No Information"

An Iranian resident of Akrotiri shared his experience with philenews, describing the moments of anxiety he and his family went through after the drone downing at the British base. The man, who has lived in Cyprus for six months, was forced with his family to temporarily leave his home and spend the night at a school in Erimi, due to fears of further attacks. He expresses his concern about the situation, emphasizing that many locals were forced to leave their homes and that war is never desirable. The Iranian resident stressed the desire of Iranians for a change of regime in Iran, believing that a democratic government would improve security in the region. He referred to the repression and deaths caused by the regime in Iran, highlighting the need for external assistance to achieve change. On Sunday night, the man heard an explosion around 11-12 pm and then sirens sounded around 3 am. Due to the uncertainty and after talking to locals, they decided to go to Erimi as a precaution. They returned to their home today, but remain vigilant. The man mentioned that he did not receive official information about the situation, but is following the news from social media and websites. He expressed his hope that nothing else will happen, while acknowledging that there is a risk, especially for those living near the base. Staying at the school in Erimi was a temporary solution to ensure their safety.
