ISOTITA Responds Harshly to Fytiris: “We Will Not Be Silenced or Threatened”

ISOTITA sent a letter to the Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, in response to his statements regarding the reaction of police officers to changes in their schedules. ISOTITA accuses the Minister of attempting to intimidate police officers and prison guards by threatening “consequences” to those who express differing opinions. The union emphasizes that trade union action is a right, not a concession, and that the role of a trade unionist is to control power, not to submit to it. ISOTITA stresses that carrying out illegal orders does not constitute discipline, but criminal responsibility, and that the union will not negotiate the dignity of its members. This response follows the strong reaction of police officers to changes in their schedules, which has caused discomfort and indignation among their unions.
