Istanbul Wakes Up to Snow - Yellow Alert Issued for Snow and Frost in 9 Turkish Provinces

Istanbul woke up covered in snow on Monday, with snowfall intensifying and temperatures near freezing. Meteorologist Orhan Şen warned of increased risk of slipperiness and traffic problems, especially in higher areas. The meteorological service has issued a yellow alert for nine Turkish provinces, including Bitlis, Hakkari, and Kastamonu, due to expected snowfall exceeding 20 centimeters, frost, and avalanche risk. Strong winds are expected in the Marmara region, while the risk of avalanches remains high in Eastern Anatolia. Authorities recommend that citizens limit their movements and use winter tires.
