Italy Sends Frigate Federico Martinengo to Cyprus

Italy is sending the frigate Federico Martinengo to defend Cyprus amid the war with Iran, Italian officials announced on Friday. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the frigate is being sent with at least 160 naval personnel as part of a coordinated effort between Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands. It is noted that last year the Martinengo completed its participation in the European Union's EUNAVFOR Aspides mission in the Red Sea, returning to the naval base of Taranto after protecting merchant ships from the threats of the Houthis.
