Justice Minister to Announce Measures for Prison Improvement, Visits Police Headquarters

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, visited the Limassol Police Headquarters and the Port Police, emphasizing the importance of the police for public safety. He described the police as a "pyramid" with officers forming the base and pledged to promote police requests for technological improvements and problem-solving. The Minister assured that he would make every effort to support the work of the police, highlighting cooperation with the Chief of Police. Regarding the Central Prisons, the Minister of Justice announced that he would visit them for the fourth time next Wednesday, in order to assess the situation firsthand and find appropriate solutions. He stressed the need to examine conditions on the ground to effectively address problems. Mr. Fytiris assured that measures to improve the Cypriot prison system would be announced soon, without providing further details. His goal is to ensure the safety and dignity of prisoners, as well as the effective operation of prisons.
