Kasselakis Calls for President's Resignation After Video Leak

Stefanos Kasselakis is calling for the President of the Republic to resign following the release of a video allegedly showing government officials, businessmen, and purported investors discussing funding to the government. The video has caused a major scandal and has been reported to the Police by former Auditor General, Giorgos Lakkotrypis. In a post, Kasselakis states that he is not surprised by the video's content, as he had already been informed about such practices by political figures in Cyprus. He highlights the risk of corruption and the vulnerability of a President or Prime Minister when there are flows of black or “white” money towards them and their families. He expresses his support for former Auditor General, Odysseus Michailidis, and his “Alma” movement, which are fighting for transparency in Cyprus. He believes that the resignation of President Christodoulides is the only honorable course of action, comparing the situation to that of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Greece. The video has caused tremors within the government, with statements and accusations following one another. The case is being investigated as a possible case of hybrid activity against the Republic of Cyprus.
