Legal Service to Review Claims Against Candidates

The Legal Service will review evidence submitted by Nikola Papadopoulos regarding three candidates from the Direct Democracy party, concerning potential offenses that could disqualify them from running for Parliament. Mr. Papadopoulos accused the candidates of involvement in drug trafficking in the occupied territories, fraud, and investor deception. The Electoral Service will conduct a preliminary investigation before the official submission of candidacies, while the final decision will be made by the Legal Service, based on the Constitution which sets the criteria for candidate eligibility. According to the Constitution, individuals convicted of dishonorable or immoral offenses, or deprived of the right to vote by a competent court, cannot be elected. The process will follow the stage of objections, where the Legal Service will rule on the eligibility of each candidate.
