Today marks the official start of the Cypriot Presidency of the European Union, with a ceremony to be held at the Central Stage of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation in Nicosia at 6:30 PM. High-ranking officials from the EU, including European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun, have arrived on the island. President Christodoulides will hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings, including a joint meeting with Costa, von der Leyen, and Zelenskyy. Strict security measures have been implemented in Nicosia, with road and parking closures.
