Man Attacks Mayor and Bites Employee at Agrinio City Hall

A serious incident occurred this morning at the Agrinio City Hall when a middle-aged man entered the building and attacked the mayor, George Papanastasiou, as well as an employee. The man, who had previously caused trouble with authorities by disrupting a City Council meeting, entered the mayor's office behaving aggressively and verbally attacking him. According to reports, the perpetrator hit the mayor with an umbrella, and during the altercation, bit a city hall employee. Attempts by the mayor and other employees to calm him down failed, leading to an escalation of the incident and the immediate notification of the police and the ambulance service. The police removed the man with a patrol car and took him to the Achaia Police Directorate for further investigation. The employee who was bitten was taken to the hospital for necessary medical examinations and care. Furthermore, it is reported that the same man had repeatedly harassed the Agrinio City Hall by phone in recent months, hurling insults and threats at the employees. Authorities are investigating the perpetrator's motives and examining the history of previous incidents.
