N. Christodoulides: Situation in the Dead Zone is Particularly Worrying

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, expressed his deep concern about the situation in the Dead Zone, particularly regarding the challenges faced by Greek Cypriot farmers. The President stated that he had contacted the Head of UNFICYP, who traveled to New York to brief the UN Security Council. Nikos Christodoulides emphasized that the safety of farmers and all those legally operating in the Dead Zone is the government's top priority. He highlighted the need for diplomatic démarches and other actions to protect them. Regarding the Cyprus issue, the President stated that it is time for substantive discussions and expressed Cyprus' readiness to participate in an expanded conference under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General, with the aim of resuming negotiations from where they left off in Crans Montana. Furthermore, President Christodoulides expressed his confidence that the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU will fulfill its obligations, strengthening the EU's autonomy and promoting European integration.
