Today's match between the Cyprus National Handball Team and Estonia for the EHF Euro 2028 Promotion Round has been postponed due to the road accident involving the team's bus. The Cyprus Handball Federation announced that the team will travel by road to Tallinn and stay overnight near the airport, with the intention of returning to Cyprus on Monday's scheduled flight, provided the injured players are fit to travel. The final decision regarding the fate of the match will be made jointly by the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the Handball Federations of Cyprus and Estonia. The CHF has not yet clarified whether the match will be rescheduled or forfeited. The Federation wishes a speedy recovery to all players and accompanying staff affected by the accident. The condition of the injured is being closely monitored to ensure their safe return to Cyprus. The CHF expressed its gratitude to the Cypriot Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cypriot Embassy in Helsinki, the Cyprus Sports Organization, the Cyprus Olympic Committee, as well as all organizations, clubs and the public for their immediate and valuable assistance and support to the team during this difficult time. The composure with which the national athletes and the mission faced the situation was particularly recognized and appreciated.
