New Non-Permanent Members Assume Duties at UN Security Council

Bahrain, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Latvia, and Liberia have begun their two-year terms as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, replacing the countries whose terms expired last month. The new members will work alongside the remaining non-permanent members (Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Panama, and Somalia) and the five permanent members (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) to maintain international peace and security. Greece has extended warm congratulations to the new members and looks forward to close and constructive cooperation throughout 2026.
