New Scam: Impersonating GESY – €10,000 Stolen from Bank Account

Police are investigating a new case of online fraud and theft, where perpetrators are sending messages impersonating the General Health System (GESY) in an attempt to steal money from citizens' bank accounts. A citizen reported receiving a message urging him to update his GESY profile via a fake link, where he entered his bank account details. As a result, the perpetrators stole €10,010 from his account. Police are warning the public and advising them to avoid clicking on links in suspicious messages and entering personal or bank details on unknown websites. It is also recommended to verify transactions through the official communication channels of organizations. The case is being investigated by the Financial Crime Investigation Office of the Limassol Police. Police warn that perpetrators are using increasingly sophisticated fraud methods, making vigilance essential. If anyone has already entered their bank details through such messages, they should immediately inform their bank to prevent their illegal use.
