Palestine: New Year's Eve Amidst Pain, Ruins and Fear - Message from Attari from Cyprus

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Cyprus, Abdallah Attari, emphasized that the Palestinian people are entering the new year amidst unprecedented pain, uncertainty, and hardship. In the Gaza Strip, the blockade and military operations have created a humanitarian disaster, with hundreds of thousands of displaced people living in appalling conditions. The Ambassador described the difficulties faced by Palestinians in the West Bank, where violence from settlers, arrests, and home demolitions are a daily occurrence. He also mentioned that many Palestinians do not have access to Bethlehem during Christmas and New Year, which he considers an insult to religious freedom. In East Jerusalem, residents face pressure, displacement, and attempts to alter the character of the city. Despite the difficulties, Ambassador Attari stressed that the Palestinian people maintain their hope for freedom, justice, and peace. On the occasion of the New Year, the Ambassador sent a message of peace to all the peoples of the world, wishing that the new year would bring an end to the occupation and a just peace for Palestine.
