Panagiotou on Criticism: Resignations of Ministers are Always at the Disposal of the President

Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panagiotou, announced that advance payments of 50,000 euros will begin to be paid to affected livestock farmers next week as compensation for the culling of animals due to foot-and-mouth disease. The compensation will be calculated based on current market prices. The goal is to vaccinate all animals across Cyprus by the end of March, with approximately 40% of goats and sheep and 70% of cows already vaccinated. Around 25,000 cases have been recorded and approximately 15,000 animals have been culled. The Minister stated that she has requested information on the situation in the occupied territories. Commenting on the criticism and calls for her resignation, Ms. Panagiotou stated that the resignations of ministers are always at the disposal of the President.
