Papacharalambous Denies Allegations of Leaving €2 Million Hole in Strovolos Municipality

Former Mayor of Strovolos, Andreas Papacharalambous, responded to reports accusing him of creating a €2 million financial problem for the municipality. The 'Alithia' newspaper claims that Papacharalambous prioritized banks over collecting debts from a private company, knowing the negative consequences. Papacharalambous himself describes the accusations as an orchestrated attempt to tarnish his name by the newspaper and the current Mayor of Strovolos, Stavros Stavrinidis. He argues that his action aimed to ensure debt repayment and save jobs, as the company was undergoing restructuring and at risk of bankruptcy. He also emphasizes that the amount of €200,000 was paid normally to the municipality and that no priority was lost.
