Paphos Mayor's Case Reopened: New Evidence Emerges

The case regarding the alleged assault of the wife of the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, is being reopened following the emergence of new evidence, including medical documents and photographs. Initially, the case was archived due to insufficient evidence, but the Police are now moving to evaluate the new material and potentially reopen the investigation. The spokesperson of the Police Headquarters, Kyriakos Theodorou, stated that all necessary procedures have been activated to determine whether the new evidence justifies a re-examination of the case. Simultaneously, Phaedon Phaedonos will appear in court for a separate case involving serious charges. Recently, the testimonial material was deemed insufficient, resulting in the Legal Service not proceeding with the registration of the case. However, the Police confirm that they have received instructions to receive and evaluate the new material, leaving the possibility of re-examination open. Furthermore, regarding the alleged rape case, the Police expect the registration of the case in the Limassol District Court. So far, no official charges have been filed against Phaedon Phaedonos, and the Police avoid further comment, reminding that guilt or innocence is determined exclusively by the Court.
