Philanthropic Foundation Donates €10 Million to Support Public Health in Small Greek Islands

The Stelios Haji-Ioannou Foundation has announced a significant donation of €10 million to strengthen public health in small Greek islands. The donation will be allocated over seven years and used to support the presence of 80 doctors in 47 islands served by Peripheral and Integrated Peripheral Health Centers. This initiative aims to address the shortage of medical personnel in these areas, offering a stable incentive for doctors to serve there. The donation agreement was signed in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is the first time a private donor has focused on human resources rather than infrastructure, while the founder of the Foundation, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, stated that the donation will provide a real incentive for doctors, with a monthly allowance of €1,500.
