Police Increase Measures to Combat Organized Crime

The Police are taking increased measures to combat organized crime, with an emphasis on patrols and operational plans that cannot be made public, Police Spokesman Vironas Vironos told ASTRA. He admitted that organized crime has become brazen, expressing particular concern that the recent incident occurred in a central location, outside a police station. One arrest has already been made, while two people are in custody and their involvement in the case is being investigated. In addition, three people have been identified and are wanted, with new identifications expected today. Regarding the 48-year-old who is hospitalized, he is a person known to the Police who had been temporarily released due to a pending trial. Mr. Vironos called on citizens to cooperate with the Police, emphasizing that arrests cannot be made without evidence and testimonies. He stressed that anyone who receives extortion or threats should file a complaint. At the same time, he referred to the murder in Paphos, involving five relatives, with warrants issued for four people, three of whom have already been arrested. Finally, the case of the attempted murder in Tersfanou is considered solved, with the cause being personal disputes. The victim is hospitalized in serious condition and the perpetrator has been arrested. The Police continue their investigations and call on citizens to be particularly careful and report any suspicious activity.
