Police Operation Results in Eight Arrests and 250 Citations

The Police conducted extensive nighttime operations throughout Cyprus, aiming to prevent criminal activities and ensure public order. During the operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol, dangerous driving, and assault on a police officer. In Nicosia, four people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while in Limassol two were arrested for dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer. Members of the OMOD also arrested two individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol. Alongside the arrests, checks were carried out on premises and the road network, resulting in more than 250 traffic violations being recorded. The most common violations concerned driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the speed limit. 18 cars, one motorcycle, and one electric bicycle were also impounded due to traffic offenses. These operations are part of a broader preventative plan by the Police, with increased presence and targeted checks in all provinces.
