Police Urge Drivers to Be Vigilant Amidst Strong Winds and Rain

The Cyprus Police are calling on drivers to be vigilant due to the severe weather conditions prevailing on the island. Specifically, due to rainfall and difficult road conditions, the Police advise drivers to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, keep headlights on, and drive with increased caution. These phenomena are linked to a wave of bad weather affecting Cyprus, with prolonged rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and strengthened winds. The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning, which is valid from Saturday morning and is expected to last until Sunday morning. According to the weather forecast, locally strong rains and thunderstorms are expected, with rainfall levels potentially exceeding 55 millimeters in some areas. At the same time, strong north-easterly winds will be blowing, which may affect road safety. The Police remind that the risk of slipperiness on the road surface increases in rainy conditions and urge the public to avoid unnecessary travel, prioritizing road safety.
