Political Pressure Mounts on UEFA for Potential Israel Exclusion

UEFA is facing increasing political pressure for a potential exclusion of Israel from international competitions. A resolution to be discussed in the parliament of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland raises questions about UEFA's tax exemption and seeks explanations for the lack of sanctions against Israel, despite UEFA's role in promoting peace through sport. The organization Game Over Israel is actively lobbying for Israel's exclusion. The vote is expected to be close, and a review of UEFA's tax exemption could generate 30 million euros in annual tax revenue for Switzerland. The issue has already been discussed internally within UEFA, with several members of the Executive Committee appearing positive towards the idea of exclusion, however, almost unanimous support is required for the decision to be approved.
