President of Cyprus and Greek Defense Minister Discuss Cooperation Amidst Regional Tensions

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with the Greek Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, at the Presidential Palace. During the meeting, President Christodoulides expressed his gratitude for the immediate response of the Greek government to Cyprus, emphasizing that Greece stands in solidarity with Cyprus during this difficult time. He highlighted that Cyprus and Greece demonstrably seek solutions and not problems, and Greece is paving the way for European solidarity, finding resonance from other European countries such as France and Germany. Minister Dendias, for his part, assured that Greece will provide any assistance it can to Cyprus, to the extent of its capabilities. He underlined the difficulty of the moment for the wider region. The meeting comes at a time of heightened tension in the region, as Cyprus is on alert due to developments in the Middle East. The immediate response and offer of assistance by Greece is a strong message of solidarity and support for Cyprus. According to announcements, four Greek F-16s have already arrived in Cyprus, while two frigates are expected later in the day. This military reinforcement aims to strengthen Cyprus's deterrent capability and protect its interests.
