President of Cyprus Presents EU Presidency Priorities to EP

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is presenting the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU to the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg today. The presentation will be held under the central message “An Autonomous Union. Open to the World” and will focus on strengthening Europe's strategic autonomy, resilience, and competitiveness. President Christodoulides will emphasize Cyprus's European responsibility as the southeasternmost end of the Union and as the only European capital under illegal occupation, as well as its commitment to international law and the defense of European values. He will also highlight Cyprus's role as a bridge between the EU and the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, promoting the need for a more active European presence in the region.
